Achievement of positive behavior outcomes related to social-emotional development begins with a caregiver’s ability to effectively cultivate and support a child in communicating their needs, showing empathy towards others, managing their emotions during frustration, resolving conflicts peacefully, taking turns in a group activity, actively listening to peers, offering support to someone upset, and demonstrating self-awareness by recognizing their own emotions and expressing them appropriately.

Achievement of positive behavior outcomes related to social-emotional development begins with a caregiver’s ability to effectively cultivate and support a child in communicating their needs, showing empathy towards others, managing their emotions during frustration, resolving conflicts peacefully, taking turns in a group activity, actively listening to peers, offering support to someone upset, and demonstrating self-awareness by recognizing their own emotions and expressing them appropriately. Participants in this workshop will be able to identify four key aspects of social-emotional development that lead to positive behaviors, interpret common cues for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, implement age-appropriate best practices to effectively cultivate positive behavioral outcomes, and support children in communicating their needs. Specific examples of positive behavior outcomes across this age group include: crying, transitions, biting, hitting, saying, “No!” and thumb sucking. Participants will complete a review of guidance and discipline, behavior support, and program transition policies aligned with Illinois’ licensing standards, which prohibit expulsion for a child’s pattern of challenging behavior. Base price per group of 20 or fewer employees, plus $25 for every additional employee in groups larger than 20.

Participants in this workshop will be able to identify four key aspects of social-emotional development leading to positive behaviors, interpret common cues for children six weeks to three years of age, implement age-appropriate best practices to effectively cultivate positive behavior outcomes, and support children with communicating their needs. Specific examples of positive behavior outcomes across this age group include: crying, transitions, biting, hitting, saying, “No!” and thumb sucking. In addition, participants will complete a comprehensive review of appropriate guidance and discipline, behavior support, and program transition policies corresponding to Illinois’ licensing standards, which prohibit expulsion due to a child’s pattern of challenging behavior.
